a small bridge that is a pretty thin link between rainy Cayo and even rainier Placencia, is being replaced with a steel bridge. Each change civilizes the place, increases accessibility, and underscores the inevitable movement from raw Belize to developed destination.

Running errands, we needed propane. The guys in the propane truck were willing to fill our tank even though they were off work, on their way back. It saved us a trip and another meal cooked on the erratic electric eye which worked best on "white dwarf" setting. (all foods reduced to hydrogen gas and carbon residues when you turn your back).
